Nineteenth-Century Studies

Research in 19th Century studies was highlighted as a particular strength in research in English Literature at the University of Huddersfield in REF 2014.

Staff specialisms range across the full spectrum of the Long Nineteenth-Century, with expertise in Romanticism, sensibility and war (Dr Ildiko Csengei); the representations, experiences and legacies of Victorian Romanies/Gypsies (Dr Jodie Matthews); and masculinities and gothic in late-Victorian and Edwardian popular fiction (Dr Merrick Burrow).
