Performance training
The Drama team at Huddersfield has sustained a long history of research into performance training within the context of modern Western theatre making. We offer a vibrant performance training research culture, encompassing a wide-range of areas of interest.
Current areas of expertise include models and understandings of psycho physicality, both within the work of the contemporary actor and within artistic and creative processes more generally; including, yoga and mindfulness, and the innovative work of Susanna Bloch’s ALBA Emoting patterns, developed as training methods for actors. Influential in the fields of research into embodied knowledge and movement improvisation, our work also includes investigations into processes of documentation. Our researchers are frequent contributors to high quality journals, have published a range of books and regularly present their work both nationally and internationally.
