The Centre for Efficiency and Performance Engineering (CEPE) at University of Huddersfield specialises in vibro-acoustics, vibro-impacts, instantaneous angular speed and instantaneous electric current analysis, diagnostic model development, signal processing, feature extraction, pattern recognition, sensor development, non-intrusive parameter estimation and model based fault diagnosis. The main focus of the centre is applied research and development, although some members are actively involved in fundamental research work to create the next generation of applicable technologies.
Our projects are delivered in association with major industrial and academic partners throughout the world and as a consequence we have acquired global recognition.
The practicality of our approach means we are well attuned to the needs and demands of industry, and this has resulted in important tie-ups with major industrial partners around the world. It also takes group members to the sharp end - experiencing, for example, the harsh working environment for men and machines on board storm-lashed oil rig support vessels.
Current Diagnostic Engineering collaborations exist with Institute of Acoustics, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, National University of Defence Technology, Kunming University of Science and Technology and Chongqing University.
The Centre for Efficiency and Performance Engineering are technically first class and we have a very productive research relationship with them.Wayne Ross, Rolls Royce Marine Plc
